7 curtain poles fitted in Kennet Island, Reading. The pics below are from a curtain fitting job we did recently. Reading Handyman installed 7 curtain poles and 2 Roman blinds in total. Being a new home and some of the curtain poles had double curtains the wight was in issue because plasterboard just wasn’t strong enough to hold all that weight.
As easy as it seems, fitting curtains requires skill to make sure they will stay in place once fitted for many years to come. There were two options, reinforce the wall behind plasterboard or use heavy duty wall anchors. We used heavy duty wall anchors and tested it on the largest patio door/window opening, installed two curtain poles and hanged curtains. We were happy that the wall anchors we used were holding everything without any problems – from then on it was just a case of repeating the process in other rooms.
Over the years we visited Kennet Island many times to fit curtains and blinds and it’s interesting to know that in some homes developers used dot and dab techniques and others had traditional plasterboard walls with studs behind plasterboard.
