Leaking tap – ceramic gland replacement in Caversham, Reading. This was a leaky kitchen tap which the plumber who was originally called out couldn’t fix because they couldn’t source the parts and he suggested to our client that she should replace the tap.

Obviously, she didn’t want to do that and found us online by searching for plumbers in Reading and explained the problem in an email. Our handyman knew as soon as he saw the tap that it’s from Howdens. We managed to source the spare tap part and replaced it in no time.

Please note that if you don’t know where your tap comes from (bran or model name) it’s very difficult to source the right size ceramic gland because there are about 18 different sizes in the UK alone and you can source only 4-8 sizes locally so it’s not always feasible to repair it. Due to everyone having a callout charge it’s sometimes more feasible to replace the tap instead of trying to repair it
